PrimeNet Manual Testing Forms
NOTE: These forms are not intended for scripted access in lieu of using Prime95 or other networked client software.
GIMPS Internet PrimeNet Server now supports manual test users! No more e-mailing test results files and requesting manual test ranges, no more database file updates!
Prime95, NTPrime, MPrime, PrimeOS2, mprime_FreeBSD v16 or v18.1 or later is required.
Easy Web Forms - Five simple forms are provided to create and update your PrimeNet account, get exponent assignments, return test results, and release any untested exponents. A sixth form, the Individual Account Report form, is a powerful tracking tool that tells you what assignments you have, what type, how long, which computer and more!
No Test Ranges, no database file! - PrimeNet does not assign to you a range of exponents to test, as with manual GIMPS testing. Instead, a specific list of exponents is selected for you, based upon information you supply about your computer and your testing preferences. Typically, you will receive the smallest available exponents matching these criteria.
No e-mail to request exponents! - When you use the IPS Manual Test Assignments Check Out form, you cut from the PrimeNet response page your list of exponents, and paste these into your computer's worktodo.ini file. Be certain to stop Prime95 before you paste the new assignments into the file.
No e-mail to send in results! - Use the IPS Manual Test Results Check In form to send in your results for immediate check in! Just as with PrimeNet automatic testing, manual test results are processed and credited by George Woltman, for GIMPS.
Limited PrimeNet Automatic User Access - PrimeNet users are welcome to use the IPS Manual Test Exponents Release form. Use of the IPS Manual Test Account Reservation & Change form is also acceptable, however Prime95's built-in remote account management should be used instead.
The forms below are intended for manual test users. Computers with Internet connections should use the automatic PrimeNet software. If you need to connect a second PC to another one that already has an Internet connection, please see the FAQ page discussion on setting up your own proxy server.
Note: Test Results checked into PrimeNet using the Manual Test Results Check In form, below, are recorded for official GIMPS credit, but are not credited for CPU time by PrimeNet.
